Nick Bromilow

Current Music Director (2025 - Present)

Nicholas Bromilow is a British conductor and a third-year doctoral student in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, where he studies with Kenneth Kiesler. He currently serves as Music Director of the Michigan Pops Orchestra and the Life Sciences Orchestra and has conducted the Campus Philharmonia Orchestra, the Department of Voice and Opera’s production of Elizabeth Cree, and the University of Michigan Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s 2025 production of HMS Pinafore. Upcoming engagements for the 2025–26 season include conducting Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker with iBallet Studio, and a guest appearance with the Prince George’s Philharmonic in Washington, D.C.

Nicholas moved to the United States in 2021 to pursue an M.M. in Orchestral Conducting at Kent State University, where he studied under Dr. Jungho Kim and served as Conducting Fellow for the Kent State University Chorus under Dr. Scott MacPherson. He made his conducting debuts with the Cleveland Women’s Orchestra and Cleveland Heights Chamber Orchestra, attended the National Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, and Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, working with Gerard Schwarz, JoAnn Falletta, and Cristian Măcelaru.

In the UK, Nicholas founded and directed several ensembles, including Resonance Orchestra and Insight Ensemble, creating immersive performances in unconventional venues such as Motion Nightclub and the Concorde Hangar at the Aerospace Museum. He has also guest conducted the Bristol Ensemble, Bristol Chamber Orchestra, and Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra.

In his spare time, Nicholas loves long-distance motorcycle touring and has explored over fifteen different European countries. He loves good food and drink, and is always on the lookout for new cultures, cuisines, and hidden travel gems.
